DocuSketch vs Matterport
MATTERPORT
Cost of Equipment
On average, a 2,500 square foot home takes 10-15 minutes to scan with DocuSketch.
Set up the tripod. Connect the camera to your app. Then it’s only 12 seconds per tripod placement.
With DocuSketch, users don’t have to leave the room while using the camera—you can simply stand behind the camera as it scans.
Matterport requires more time to set up and more scans per room. Capturing a large property with Matterport typically takes twice as long as it would with DocuSketch.
With Matterport, you also need to manually identify and mark windows and mirrors in your scan—further increasing the time needed.
Speed to scan a site
Small, robust camera kit for $795. Affordable equipment costs allow contractors to have multiple cameras when necessary, increasing scalability and responsiveness.
The DocuSketch camera kit comes with a camera, tripod, LED light, and is packed in an easy to carry protective case—all weighing under 5 lb.
Matterport cameras are very expensive at $6,595 (*Pro3 Performance Kit). At such high price point, it can be difficult to afford to provide all field teams with a camera kit resulting in more onsite visits by senior staff and estimators.
The Matterport camera weighs in at 7.6 lb making it more difficult to move from location to location.
Quality of sketch
Sketches from DocuSketch can be directly uploaded into Xactimate. DocuSketch is the only documentation software to automatically include stairs, railings, cabinets, plumbing fixtures and appliances.
Matterport sketches take longer to receive - often between 12 hours to 6 days - and don’t include furniture, fixtures, or cabinets.
Timeline tour: Before & After Documentation
Side-by-side before and after documentation is the clearest way to show your work throughout the project. Simply zoom in on the area of damage and show the visual documentation of your efforts. No extra fees apply.
Before and after documentation is possible, but it’s not free. You’ll require more storage space, multiple screens, and you have to tour each space individually.
Insurance-compliant estimates
Through our team of experienced estimators DocuSketch is able to take your 360° tour and return insurance-compliant estimates—allowing you to take on more projects and improve your response times.
Matterport does not provide estimating and refers to a 3rd party vendor.
Ease of use
DocuSketch is built specifically for the restoration industry and is easy to start using.
With free onboarding and ongoing training you can ensure your team is operating at their highest capacity.
Matterport was built for the real estate market and this is still their largest customer base.
Training your team to use Matterport and the measurement feature correctly is more complex than with DocuSketch.
Comparably hard to connect to job management tools and CRM.
Operational efficiency through standardization
Through its cost structure and ease of use DocuSketch is likely to be used for 100% of all jobs.
By having all technicians trained and all field teams equipped with camera kits, contractors increase their project capacity in times of influx or CAT events.
The cost of Matterport often results in multiple field teams sharing a camera — resulting in some teams operating without 360° documentation in busy times or a CAT event.
